FOUNDATION AND FIXING

The foundation is the basis of good and long-lasting make-up. With it, we achieve that the face looks healthy, fresh, and as natural as possible. They differ from each other in terms of density, coverage, durability, and of course color.

They are a kind of clothing for the face, as they protect the skin from various external factors such as cold, smog, UV rays, wind, and more. They are enriched with various vitamins, among which predominates vitamin E, which protects the skin precisely from the external influences already mentioned, as it prevents the release of free radicals. They are also enriched with moisturizing ingredients and various UV filters, some of them also contain additional nutrients and active ingredients that help the skin perform its normal functions.

Therefore, we would say that the statement of our grandmothers that foundations are harmful to the skin is not true. 😊

How to choose the right foundation?

It is very important to choose a foundation that suits your skin type. We know different skin types, namely:

Dry skin (i.e. skin that is irritated, sometimes itchy and red) – foundations that contain a lot of moisture and nutrients

  • Normal (this is skin that usually looks bloody and healthy) – moisturizing primers or primers for all skin types
  • Combination skin (this is skin where the forehead, nose, and chin are oily (shiny), but the cheeks are usually dry and sometimes red) – primers for combination skin or moisturizing primers
  • Oily skin (i.e. skin that tends to be oily (shiny) on the entire surface of the face) – foundations that do not contain oils or regulate sebum and foundations that mattify the skin
  • Mature skin (i.e. skin on which many age spots and wrinkles are already visible) – light liquid foundations with anti-aging effect, containing moisturizing and nourishing substances.

Now we have found out what skin type we have, we also need to determine the right shade of foundation that matches our skin tone. To do this, we apply two or three shades in the area of the cheekbones and match them to the skin tone on the neck. The shade we hardly notice will surely be the right one.

We have to be careful not to be fooled by the shade of our face because our face is usually a little darker than the neck area. Either due to redness, sun, freckles, and the like.

After choosing the right shade, we also need to apply it properly on the face. We always apply it with a brush, as this is the most even way to apply it. You can also use a latex sponge, which must be soaked in water beforehand, but then it absorbs a lot of the foundation.

It is best to start in the middle of the forehead and apply the foundation to the left and right sides, the area of the shadows, the eyelids, and the area under the eyes, the cheekbones, the nose, under the nose, the chin, and the cheekbones. . Apply to the scalp and ears, smoothing the edges so there are no visible lines. On the edge of the cheekbones and chin, we just smudge the edge so that it blends with the neck. No foundation should ever be applied to the neck, except in exceptional cases such as various visible imperfections. We must be careful not to drag the brush on the area where we previously applied concealer, but “tap” so as not to remove the concealer.

In the end, everything must be additionally consolidated, “fixed”, because only in this way our foundation will hold. For fixing we can use powder from stone or powder.

I just want to say that it is best to choose transparent (blue) powders because this way you can not go wrong when choosing the right shade.

When choosing a powder, again it’s good to know what skin type you have, because powder has a greater ability to absorb oil than stone powders. This means that powder is great for oily skin, while loose powder is great for everyone else.

Compact powder and loose powder are applied to the entire face, not forgetting the eyelids, as this prolongs the durability of the eyeshadow and makes it easier to erase.

I wish you a lot of fun while creating!
